We are a national organization of affiliated Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation physicians (physiatrists). WCR physiatrists are residency trained and board certified physicians who specialize in maximizing patients’ function and independence after a disabling physical ailment (e.g. stroke, joint replacement, organ transplant etc).

WHAT IS PHYSIATRY?

Physiatrists or rehabilitation medical physicians, are nerve, muscle, and bone experts who treat injuries or illnesses that affect how one functions – particularly activities of daily living. Physiatrists work closely with physical and occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, orthotists and prosthetists, psychologists, nurses and social workers to form a united multi-disciplinary care plan for the rehabilitation patient.
